10.28.11 - I was interviewed by the photography website fotolo.co as one of their featured artist.  A big thanks to Bo at Fotolo.co for the great interview.  Please give it a read.

8.3.11 - One of my images, Beauty Divide, was selected as a finalist in this years Nature's Best competition.  The competitions draws the top landscape and nature photographers from around the world and I'm thrilled to have made it this far.  I've got my fingers crossed.

4.3.11 - I'm thrilled to announced my work is now being represented by Trewin Framery in Modesto, CA.  Trewin has a strong reputation for carring only quality work and the owner, Norman Ham is one of the top framers in the country as well.  I'm looking forward to working with Norman in the years to come.

4.1.11 - My 2012 nature and landscape photography workshops has been announced.  We'll be heading to some of the most beautiful locations in the world with Yosemite, Grand Teton National Park and the Big Sur coast headlining the schedule.  I'm very excited about the Grand Teton workshop which will be taking place at the peak of fall colors and while the park's moose population are in their rut.  If you'd like to join me during one of these fabulous workshops head over to my workshop page.

3.3.11 - I have been named a contributor to the Manfrotto's School of Excellence blog.  I'll be writting a monthly column on photography starting in March 2011 and running until at least January 2011.  The Manfrotto School of Excellence brings together some of the industries top professionals to write about photography and their expirence. I'm thrilled to be part of it!

2.21.11 - Presented my "Art of Landscape Photography" program to the Modesto Camera Club.

5.27.10 - I've finished up my spring photography workshops for 2010, Big Sur Coast, Yosemite in Spring and two private workshops in Big Sur.  It's been a busy spring and I'm looking forward to my next workshop,  Mono Lake area for the fall colors in the Eastern Sierras this October.  We'll be visiting Mono Lake, the ghost town of Bodie, Yosemite's High Country and the wonderful fall colors around Lee Vining and Bishop.  Hope to see you there.

5.5.10 - One of my new images, Setting Sun on Bonsai Rock has been named a finalist in the Great Outdoors photography contest put on by Outdoor Photographer magazine.  We'll see how I do sometime in June or July I guess.

5.1.10 - Announced my 2011 photography workshops.  I'm very excited about the locations I'll be leading the workshops in, Yosemite in both the Winter and Spring, The Big Sur Coast, Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierras and new for 2011, Grand Teton National Park.  I'm particularly excited about the Grand Teton photography workshop, this is my favorite National Park and I haven't had an opportunity to get back there in a couple of years.  June is spring in the park and the area is thriving with new life in all forms, most noticeably though is the wildflowers and the young bison.  This will be a very special 4 day workshop!  Find out more information about all the workshops in the website's workshop section

4.20.10 - I donated two of my most recent prints from the Lake Tahoe area, Setting Sun on Bonsai Rock and Morning Reflections on Emerald Bay for a charity auction taking place on May 1st.  I hope they're able to raise some money, I'm eagered to see how they do.

2.24.10 - I'm very happy that my work is now being carried by Hammond Art Consulting, in Roseville California.  Hammond Art Consulting is a very well respected name in the art consulting world within California, especially in the Sacramento region and I'm really looking forward to working with Alan (the owner) on future projects.

9.4.09 - I've decided to add two new workshops to my scheduled for this fall, Mono Lake and Beyond and Autumn in Yosemite.  Each workshop will be a one day event and cost only $99.  A wonderful way to spend the day, meet new people and learn a lot about photography.  More information is in the workshop section of the website.

9.1.09 - Show at the Appel Gallery in Sacramento, CA.  This is a solo show featuring a lot of new work along with a number of my more popular images.  I'm very excited as this is a wonderful venue for photography and should be a wonderful show.  There will be a reception on Saturday, September 12th from 5pm to 9pm. The gallery is located at 931 T. Street, Sacramento, California.  More information can be found at the gallery's website, www.appelgallery.com.  I hope you can make it.

8.7.09 - I just added two new workshops to my schedule.  I'll be teaching both for the Photographers' Gallery in Modesto California this fall.  The first of these classes will be on Saturday, September 26 and will focus on basic Photoshop skills entitled "Basic Photoshop for Photographers".  The second class will take place on October 24th and will be my 3 hour adaptation of my "The Expressive Landscape Print" workshop.  More information regarding the workshops or information regarding registering for them can be found in the workshop section of the Photographers' Gallery website.

8.4.09 - Show at the Mistlin Gallery in Modesto, CA.  I am part of a group exhibition of the Photo Collective, a local photography group that I'm a member of, from August 4th to August 27th with an artist reception on August 20th from 6pm to 9pm.  The Mistlin Gallery is located at 1015 J. Street, Modesto, California 95358.

7.16.09 - Show at the Photographers' Gallery in Modesto, California.  I'll be the featured artist in the gallery's landscape exhibition running from July 16th to August 14th.  I'm showing a number of new pieces along with some of my more popular images.  The artist reception is July 16th from 6pm to 9pm, the gallery is located at 1220 J. Street in Modesto, California 95358, if you're in the area please stop by.

5.25.09 - Confirmed a new workshop I'll be teaching at the Viewpoint gallery in Sacramento, California.  The workshop is titled "The Expressive Landscape Print" and is Photoshop based, I'll be discuss a number of advanced techniques that will help take your images to gallery standards.  The workshop will be July 25th 2009 from 8am to Noon and will cost only $75 for members and $125 for non-members.  More info can be found at the Viewpoint's Website.

5.18.09 - I've just been notified that I've been named a finalist for a Hasselblad Master's Award for the second year in a row.  The Hasselblad Master's Awards are some of the most prestigious in the photography world and I'm honored and excited about the prospect of being named a Hasselblad Master.  The winners will be announced in 2010 so I have my fingers crossed. Part of the voting process is open to the public via an online jury process where you act as one of the jurors.  If you'd like to participate go to the Hasselblad Masters Jury Site, register an account and this will give you access to the finalist gallery where you can rate each finalist's portfolio from 1 to 5 and add comments.  I'm in the Landscape Category.

4.5.09 - Photography workshops for 2010 has been announced and finalized.  I've developed 4 weekend workshops for 2010 that will combine time in the field shooting and classroom time learning new techniques that can be immediately applied.  I'm looking forward to the workshops, if you'd more information regarding my 2010 workshop series head on over to the Workshop Page.

4.1.09 - New website launched, edwardmendesphotography.com!  The website will be solely dedicated to my fine art landscape photography and my photography workshops.  It's been a long time in development but I'm very proud of the site and look forward to hear from others regarding the new site.

10.13.08 - New show at the Photographers' Gallery in Modesto, CA through November 16th. Reception is on October 16th from 6-9pm.

7.29.08 - WOW! What a day. I just got back from Carmel and spending a couple of hours with Kim Weston. Kim is the grandson of Edward Weston, and one of the most respected photographers in the world. It was a thrill meeting him and taking a tour of not only his darkroom but Edward Weston's as well, along with Edward's home. Kim will be the next member of the Whitespider.org Master Series in September which was the reason for heading over to meet him. As part of the Master's Series we will have an interview with Kim along with a gallery of his work in the September/October issue of Whitespider.org, be sure to check it out.

7.21.08 - I'll be teaching workshops as part of the Photographers' Gallery Digital College starting at the end of July. There will be four workshops in total from July thru the end of the year ranging from 1 to 4 weeks and covering many different photographic subjects. To see a list of workshops vist my Classes page.

7.3.08 - I just finished an interview with House to Home Magazine for their September/October issue. I'll be featured as the Artist of the Month and a few images will be run with the interview.

4.16.08 - I've decided to join the photographysites.com directory, the directory is one of the best places to find wonderful photography from around the world. Give it a look.

4.10.08 - New website launched, this is something that happens every few years, I get tired of the old outdated design of the current site and completely update everything. I've tried to make the site as user friendly as possible while also making it easier on me to update it with new information and images. I hope you like it.

4.10.08 - Kaiser Permanente expands their collection of Edward's prints, I've been very fortunate to call Kaiser Permanente a client for a few years now and I'm pleased that they have recently add a number of my newest prints to their collection.

1.26.08 - Named finalist in the Hasselblad Master's awards, the Hasselblad Master's award is one of the most prestigious awards in photography. Professional photographers from around the globe enter to become the one master in each of the ten categories. I am proud to announce that I named a finalist in this year's awards. While I did not win this year, being named as one of the top ten landscape photographers in the world is quite an honor and one I am very proud of.
